Two Detentions in the Aftermath of Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Attack

This incident caused the temporary closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking area.

An additional two individuals have been arrested related to a robbery at Heathrow Airport where 21 people were injured by what is thought to be pepper spray, according to law enforcement.

A man, 24, was taken into custody in Lambeth on suspicion of theft and assault and a 23-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of conspiring to commit a robbery. They both remain in custody, authorities confirmed.

These detentions come after an investigation into an attack at the multi-level parking garage at Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Before the attack, two women were robbed of their suitcases after getting out of a parking garage elevator.

A toddler aged three was one of the injured during the incident. Five people went to hospital for medical care and were later discharged.

Police detained a 31-year-old man for suspected robbery and assault close to the location. He was subsequently released under investigation as the investigation proceeds.

Authorities were alerted at approximately 8:10 in the morning GMT following reports of several people injured by an irritating chemical believed to be an irritant spray.

The attack - an event that police said was isolated and not considered an act of terror - caused train delays and the temporary shutdown of the main airport tunnel and the T3 parking facility briefly.
